“This music was recorded on 01/25/24 just past midday as this January's Wolf Moon passed into it's fullness. A happy accident unknown to us at the time. A gray, cold, southern Appalachia mountains winter rainy afternoon.
Chris had literally just bought a beautiful Martin guitar and as fate would have it he came direct from the store to my little farmhouse attic studio for a session we had arranged a few weeks earlier. Chris and I have played a bit over the years and this was the first time the two of us recorded whatever we felt in the moment in studio.
These pieces were all improvised in a flow with both of us playing live. Me on keys moving different sounds in and out and Chris on guitar, dotar and oud. No edits in the mixing and the only overdub was the bass on Fire in the Lake.
It feels to us there is a spirit of listening and peace that enlivens the music and hence the listener. May these sounds and vibrations bring peace and healing to all our relations.
